  • Hallo Till,

    schau mal hier rein.

:daumen-hoch :pilot

  • Good afternoon! I just want to change the front 19 wheel to 17 on my scrambler, and some experts say that you may have to change the firmware of the motorcycle due to the reconfiguration of the ABS. Please tell me, have you encountered such a situation when replacing 17 with 19? Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

i have done that on my 2017 Scrambler. I did not encounter any problems at first there was a warning symbol on the display but shortly disappeared after riding some kilometers. I did not change anything on the ecu.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for the answer. Has something changed in the handling of the motorcycle and how does it look visually considering the length of the front fork? If you have a photo, I would be very grateful to you)

For some unknown reasons, the ABS rings on the front are identical and work with both wheel sizes without problems (don't know why!)

Handling of course is different, mainly due to the width (I have slimer tires on my Scrambler wheels: 110 and 150) but of course also wheel size!

Visually it makes a difference that would be less striking if you'd use the 17" front mudguard from the pure but I likje the Sumo - Look!

    Scrambler with Sumo wheels.

  • Well I would say a lot has changed because I also changed to forged rims, which weigh less than the spoked rims. It will be more agile but I cannot write about details because I also changed the steering damper which has also influenced the whole riding style. In Conclusion I would call it the more sporty style.

It looks great, I really like it! Thanks

On the contrary, I want to switch from alloy wheels 19-17 to 17-17 with spokes.

    Hi Max123

I must have changed the ABS wheel. But I change my front-wheel from 17' to 19'. It depends on the special type and model of your ninet. One has to change the ABS-Wheel, others not. It depends on your control unit. But not even your BMW-dealer can tell you, which special kind of control unit your bike has. So try and error :denk :lachen

    good luck

I have a 2020 scrambler, I want to put the wheels from the usual r nine t 2017. Visually, the brake discs and the ABS comb are no different. And the BMW dealer, as you say, knows nothing.

  • On the one hand a 17 wheel brings better agility and handling, but on the other hand a 19 wheel has better running smoothness and rides smoother over bumps.

For me personally, the design of a fat R9T in conjunction with a super moto optic on the front fork is not coherent.

But this is my personal taste and about taste cannot be argued. :bier
